Wilbur Crisp: Early Coach, Inventor, Innovator and Sports Entrepreneur
Northport, AL: Sevgo Press, 1998

Book credited with getting Coach Crisp inducted into the National High School Sports Hall of Fame and the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame.
Born in 1891, Crisp was a basketball pioneer who invented the rebound/tap-in rim, adjustable baskets seen in driveways throughout the country, wall-size basketball timers, the first backward-moving score clock, and blinders to teach dribbling. Crisp also invented the first timer used for NCAA wrestling matches, came up with the red and green anklets worn by all wrestlers and improved score books for basketball and wrestling.
A legendary coach, he coached Little Falls, N.Y. to a state championship in 1930 in a "Hoosiers story" a couple of decades before Hoosiers. Should be of interest to basketball and history buffs.
Book received favorable national reviews by the Associated Press and was noted in USA Today.
